ICAEW is a global professional membership body with over 153,000 members (ICAEW Chartered Accountants) in 148 countries. Established by Royal Charter in 1880, our objectives are to: advance the theory and practice of accountancy, finance, business and commerce; recruit, educate and train a body of members skilled in accountancy and finance; preserve at all times the professional independence of accountants; maintain high standards of practice and professional conduct by all members; and, advance the profession of accountancy. ICAEW is: - a RQB and a RSB under the UK Companies Act 2006; - a PAB and RAB under the Companies Act 2014 in Ireland; - a DPB under the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000; - a supervisory body recognised by HM Treasury for the Money Laundering Regulations 2017; and - an approved regulator and licensing authority for probate under the Legal Services Act 2007.
